Certificate III in Fitness
The foundation. Screening, assessment, anatomy and physiology, and instructing gym and group sessions safely.
- Qualifies you to work as a gym instructor or fitness coach
- No prerequisites, this is where everybody starts
Both certificates in one course. The pair employers actually ask for. No experience needed to start.
Everything about the course, your study options and the payment plans, in one PDF.
Cert III puts you on the gym floor. Cert IV makes you a personal trainer. You finish the course holding both, which is what employers ask for, so you start work qualified rather than part way there.
The foundation. Screening, assessment, anatomy and physiology, and instructing gym and group sessions safely.
The step up. Personalised programming, exercise science, body composition, behaviour change and the business side of training.
ACFB's connections run across the associations that register and represent Australian fitness professionals, so what you learn lines up with what the industry expects of you.
The fee shouldn't be the thing that stops you. There are three ways to pay, plus a grant for students who qualify, and you can work it out with the team when you enquire.
ACFB's own payment plan, genuinely interest free. Spread the course fee over weekly payments without a third-party lender.
Longer terms through ZipMoney, if that suits you better. Subject to approval, fees and Zip's terms.
Settle the course fee in one go: $500 off on campus, $1,750 off online. Not available alongside a Support Grant.
The Support Grant is by application, and it goes to selected students who are ready to commit to their next chapter. Ask about it when you enquire and we'll tell you whether you may be eligible.
Students on a Support Grant pay from $50 a week.
ZipMoney instalment plans are provided by Zip, available to approved applicants only and subject to Zip's terms, fees and credit assessment. ACFB's own payment plan is not a Zip product. Weekly figures are indicative.

No. There are no prerequisites and no previous qualifications required to start the SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness, which is where the combined course begins. A genuine interest in health and fitness is the only thing you need to bring.
On campus in Melbourne, the course runs 9 to 10 months of classes plus the time you need to complete your work placement.
Online, it's self-paced and takes between 6 and 24 months, up to twelve months per certificate, so you can move as quickly or as gently as the rest of your life allows.
On campus suits you if you want hands-on practical time and the structure of a set day: one day a week at our Melbourne campus in Ringwood, plus a structured home study day with guided materials.
Online suits you if your week doesn't hold still. You work through the theory at your own pace, book practical demonstrations when you feel ready, and have a dedicated mentor for one-on-one support. Online students can start straight away.
You can pay the course fee upfront and take $500 off on campus or $1,750 off online, or spread it over weekly instalments. ACFB's own plan is interest free and starts from $75 a week. ZipMoney starts from $45 a week, subject to approval, fees and Zip's terms.
ACFB also offers Support Grants to selected students, by application. Students on a grant pay from $50 a week, and the upfront discounts aren't available alongside one. Ask us when you enquire and we'll tell you whether you may be eligible.
